a climate centre in lemvig
this proposal for a new climate centre on the danish west coast harbour city of sought to integrate the essential functions of the municipality’s water department with a dynamic public facing component. central to the building’s design is the grand public gesture of making the green rooftop easily accessible, understood as a continuation of the harbour itself. oriented toward the adjacent skate park, the rooftop conveys a sense of play, beckoning the public to explore. beneath the rooftop, flexible spaces allow for various kinds of workspace and exhibitions to occur simultaneously as needed. reflecting the institution’s sustainability goals, the building too is designed with regenerative systems like solar, wind, and water reclamation in mind. the adjacent harbour front is stepped to maintain its public access even as future sea level rise occurs.
