a collection of three dwellings
this ground-up construction is comprised of three condominiums, each contained within its own “house” on a quiet street in santa monica. inspired by the prototypical home with a boxy form and gabled roof, the exterior employs a limited palette of materials: board-form concrete, white plaster, and corrugated metal roofing. the design adapts the typical suburban home into a denser sub-developed lot, with each unit having its own autonomous backyard and roof deck, oriented toward ocean views. developments like these offer the privacy that has long typified residential development in the los angeles region while adapting it for today’s rapidly densifying city.
